My first queen ant, a Lasius Flavus (Yellow Meadow Ant) arrived 130 days ago, I have had a few failures of eggs and I was expecting the queen to fade away. My other colonies have gone OK but not this one.
A bit of a surprise today to see a tiny worker ant in the tube. Early days, the tube itself is full of black mould and I'm hoping the worker can live a few days to develop some strength and full movement so that I can try to move them but it is better than I expected.
I have provided them with a small drop of nectar and will see what happens between now and the weekend before deciding on the best course to take.
No photo as I was caught off guard and the phone battery was dead.
