Cake in a Slow Cooker?

stevecowles

Until earlier this week I did not know that proper cakes could be cooked in this way, although I have made steamed puddings in the slow cooker before.

While I was browsing YouTube for ideas, I bumped into a recipe for a tea loaf and decided to give it a try. The results were excellent with the cake being more moist than I would probably have achieved in the oven.

The key seems to be to line the slow cooker bowl with greaseproof paper and to then put the cake mix directly into it rather than using water around it. Also it seems that placing a tea towel under the lid prevents condensation from dripping onto the cake.

If you are interested, the recipe will be found in my recipes pages under 'cakes'. I'd certainly recommend it.
